Kimberly Bell’s affair with Barry Bonds is best documented in the damning bestseller Game of Shadows.

The book, written by two San Francisco Chronicle reporters, links Bonds to steroid dealers Victor Conte and Greg Anderson, while detailing Bonds’ erratic and often violent relationship with Bell.

Bonds and Bell ended their nine year relationship in 2003, but seeing as their affair spanned the key years in Bonds’ steroid use, Kimberly’s testimony became important to the BALCO investigation and the subsequent perjury case that stemmed from it.

Barry’s reputation was crushed by the book, but Kimberly took advantage of her newfound notoriety. She posed nude for Playboy in the October 2007 issue, and launched a media tour to promote her nude spread. She did not shy away from sharing the most intimate details of her relationship with the home run king.

She repeatedly detailed Bonds’ insecurity, his hair loss, his violent rages and his shrinking testicles. He took pills to compensate for sexual side effects of the steroids, and Kimberly claimed that she was...well...less than honest in bed.

In her Playboy interview she said, “When you’re dealing with somebody who’s that selfish, with that kind of ego, you learn to exaggerate your reactions to make him feel better.”

If there’s a worse thing you can say about a man in a magazine, I don’t know what it might be.
