About WAG Rankings

wagrankings.com was founded in March of 2008.

The goal of the site is simple: To determine the hottest wife or girlfriend in professional sports.

Since the site started, I have received some criticisms that I should be focusing on the skill of the players rather than who they're married to or who they may have dated in the past. While I respect those sentiments, there are already thousands of websites dedicated to exactly that. I wanted to do something different.

With locker room access, 24 hour a day sports coverage, the fall of traditional newspaper journalism and the rise of an army of sports bloggers, the more traditional story arcs found in sports journalism are quickly dying.

It's difficult to say exactly what sports journalism will become, but I believe that it is shifting into the realm of celebrity gossip. This is already the case in Britain, where soccer players' lives are just as public as their Hollywood counterparts.

In the US, the success of Bill Simmons has already shown how seamlessly quality sports journalism can blend with Hollywood gossip columns.
