Yesterday I wrote that Stacey Gardner may be the best-educated WAG in the history of WAGs. Apologies to Stacey for my hasty declaration, but it appears she’ll have to share the crown.
Like Stacey, Laura Posada is a lawyer.
Laura earned her Law Degree from Loyola University, and did modeling work to pay the bills. As a lawyer, she mostly practiced bankruptcy cases before focusing her efforts on The Jorge Posada Foundation, which works to help families with kids who have Craniosynostosis.
As you probably guessed by now, Laura is Jorge Posada’s wife. She married the Yankees catcher in 1999.

Alyssa Milano is obsessed with everything baseball.
She owns Dodgers season tickets, keeps a Dodgers blog and started Touch, her own line of baseball clothes for women.
It’s not surprising, given her obsession and celebrity status, that Alyssa has dated a full handful of baseball players. She’s been linked to Brad Penny, Carl Pavano, Barry Zito, Russell Martin and Tom Glavine.
That’s 4 pitchers and 1 catcher by my count, which is too bad for Tony Danza’s character on Who’s the Boss (he played second base for the Cardinals). But it’s great news for Sam Malone.
Alyssa Milano is most famous for her role on the 80s sitcom Who’s the Boss, but she’s managed to stay relevant throughout her career with roles on Melrose Place, Charmed, and most recently, My Name is Earl.

Catherine Panagiotopoulos is Nick Swisher’s girlfriend.
Catherine and Nick met in 2000 when he was playing in the Cape Cod League for the Wareham Gatemen. They spent that summer hanging out as friends, but they didn’t reconnect until the Oakland A’s visited the Boston Red Sox last fall. Swisher went 1 for 8 with 3 strikeouts as the Red Sox swept the two-game series, but with the playoffs out of reach and Catherine in the stands, he may have had other things on his mind.
Catherine spent ten years in the modeling industry before opening her own modeling agency,CMG Modeling Group, in 2007. She’s a big baseball fan (though football is her true love), and she’s spending this summer in Chicago supporting Nick in his first season with the White Sox.
If you’re a fan of Dave Matthews Band, you probably recognize Catherine as the girl on the cover of Recently.
And if you’re not familiar with Nick Swisher, he’s one of the most charitable guys in sports. He does a lot of cool stuff with sick kids, and he’s an ambassador to the EIF Foundation and the Women’s Cancer Research Fund. Scarlett Johansson was Derek Jeter’s girlfriend in 2004.
She is one of the six women Jeter has dated who appear in the 2008 Maxim Hot 100 list.
Scarlett Johansson recently released her first album to mixed reviews. Titled Anywhere I Lay My Head, the album is a bunch of Tom Waits covers.
Though you have to respect the cojones it took to try something new, Scarlett’s musical effort doesn’t seem to be the best use of her talents (she did have a brief appearance in fellow WAG Mandy Moore’s, first video though).
Scarlett Johansson made her big screen debut in 1994, when she appeared with Elijah Wood in North. But it wasn’t until 2003’s critically acclaimed Lost in Translation that she truly became a Hollywood starlet.
In 2006, Esquire named Johansson the Sexiest Woman Alive. In 2007 she came in at #3 on Maxim’s Hot 100 list, and Playboy named her the Sexiest Celebrity of the year.

Alicia Machado was Bobby Abreu’s fiancee in 2005, but he understandably got a little upset when a film was released showing Alicia having sex with a reality show contestant. Abreu called off the wedding immediately.
Alicia Machado won the Miss Universe pageant in 1996, becoming the fourth Venezuelan woman to win the crown.
In many ways Machado is the Venezuelan version of Anna Nicole Smith. She gained a ton of weight after her initial fame, couldn’t get acting jobs anymore, and appeared mostly in reality shows and commercials. In her most successful advertising campaign, she was a spokeswoman for a weight loss pill (Trimspa, baby!).
Machado posed nude for the Mexican edition of Playboy in 2006, becoming the only Miss Universe ever to get naked for the publication.

Jessica Alba was Derek Jeter’s girlfriend in 2004.
Sabermetricians have long questioned Derek Jeter’s defensive abilities, but nobody has ever questioned the Yankee shortstop’s ability to woo the hottest Hollywood starlets.
Alba was named the sexiest woman in the world by FHM in 2007, though she has long despised being viewed as a sex symbol. She once launched a lawsuit against Playboy for putting a photograph on of her on the cover without her consent, understandably taking issue with the insinuation that she posed nude for the mag.
Jessica has taken the Sarah Jessica Parker route with all of her roles, as each of her contracts include a no nudity clause.
Alba has repeatedly claimed that she wants to be a serious actress and hopes to overcome her typecasting as a sex kitten by taking more dramatic roles, but so far she hasn’t made too many ventures into the realm of highbrow cinema.

For a period of three years, Jessica Sekely was Jose Canseco’s wife.
Sekely and Canseco were married in 1996, but the romance was short lived. Jose was arrested for hitting her in 1997, and they divorced in 1999.
Jessica released a tell all book in August of 2005 called Juicy: Confessions of a Former Baseball Wife, in which she repeatedly bashed Jose for being an abusive womanizer.
Interestingly, she used the named Jessica Canseco on the cover of the book, which seems odd given her very public hatred of the man.
Not only did she use the Canseco name in her book, but when she posed nude for Playboy in September of 2005 (one month after her book was released, and six years after their divorce), she did so under the name Jessica Canseco.
As a bit of current news, Jose’s new book on steroids came out yesterday, in which he revealed that he long suspected Jessica of having an affair with Alex Rodriguez.
As you might guess, he wasn’t too pleased with A-Rod, and used this hatred as his motivation for pinning the Yankees superstar for steroid use. He finishes up the accusatory chapter with:
“So A-Rod, if you’re reading this book, and if I’m not getting through to you, let’s get clear on one thing: I hate your f%@#$ guts.”
Ouch.
